Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you have a question that's not answered here? ask us

What is SalatPager(SM)?
SalatPager is a web-based free (for limited time) paging service that notifies you when prayer times are due in your area by sending a wireless text message (page) to your device wireless device (such as a cellular phone, a pager, a PDA, or other type of wireless device capable of receiving wireless text messages)

What SalatPager(SM) is NOT
SalatPager is not an actual device we sell or market. It is simply a service. You need to have an existing paging device to use our SalatPager Service.

What device do I need to use this service?
You need to have a wireless device such as a cellular phone, a pager, or a wireless PDA (personal Digital Assistance).

Does the device have to have any particular features?
Yes. Your wireless device should be capable of receiving text messages (also known as SMS), such as the capability of a paging device (pager)

I have the device, what's the next step?

For any of those devices, it needs to be able to send and receive text messages. Check with your service provider for availability. Also, your wireless device should be able to receive TEXT based messages. We do not support numeric paging devices.

Can I use an only numerical paging service?
At this stage, we only provide SalatPager service to text capable paging devices. If there is demand for support for numerical paging, please send us an e-mail to cast your vote.

I have a PDA, now what?
If you have a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) such as the Palm or PocketPC, you need

  1. a wireless connection to the Internet through a built-in modem (such as the Palm VII) or a modem add-on compatible with your PDA (such as the OmniSky modem add-on for the Palm III, V, Vx)
  2. You need to download ICQ version for your PDA, install it and configure it. If you do not have an ICQ number, get it here
  3. Or you need a pager add-on hardware such as the ones available for the Palm device. Such add-on allows your PDA to receive pages.
  4. You can also run a messaging software (such as Yahoo Messenger) on your wriless-enabled PDA, and register the e-mail of your Yahoo account as the email-page address.
